Rating: Good, excellent Roman Coffee served
This small locale is a gem. Yet walking by, you really don’t notice it. Yet it had a lot of traffic, and always does. The Crismi cafe is one of the best cafes I’ve had so far here in Rome, even in the microcosm of the Monteverde area, this place is by far one of the top. Let’s discover why.

Rating: Standard, very good Roman Traditional coffee
In the San Giovanni neighborhood of Rome you find a nice espresso surprise. South of the Lateran complex of churches, and down the Via Magna Grecia you run into a lot of cafes, this one is ostentatiously called ‘La Roma Caffè, Italian Flavour’. So let’s see if the name holds any water….

Rating: Standard, surprisingly decent Roman coffee
The cafe Bar Baffo is right at the foot of Rome’s Trastevere train station. A look at its interior lets you see that this place sees a ton of traffic every day.

Rating: Standard, excellent version of the Traditional Roman espresso
The White Bar and Cafe is located on the same street as the Torrazione Trio in the Monteverde area (Quartiere XII Gianicolense) of Rome. Its look is very sleek, very clean, very cool. If you look them up, they have an aperitivo menu, and there’s a side terrace that looks like a cool place to hang after hours. However, your first impression on walking in is that the coffee is important to the place and they show a professional attitude towards what they present. Looks promising!

Rating: Standard, yet distinctly different from Traditional Roman coffee
The Sicilian Cafe – Pastry shop Pasticceria Nino is placed in a very strategic locale at the foot of the Ciampino train station (South of Rome). Since a lot of travel to and from Rome happens from the Ciampino Airport, where Ryan Air and other low-cost airlines operate from, the Ciampino train station sees a lot traffic from international travelers. Yet it’s not so much tourists that I find here, but locals, and lots of them.

Rating: Standard, excellent Roman styled coffe.
The Cafe and Bar Voglia di Caffè is a hidden gem in the Monteverde neighborhood of Rome. The fact that the cafe is literally hugging the Osteria Palmira, a place always teeming with people after 9pm, might show for its popularity. Voglia di Caffè is a very small bar that’s overlooking a police academy and a large state run math school. It’s always packed with cops, students, and locals. The guy who runs this place, Maurizio Tarantello, is a gem and so is his love of coffee. It actually shows in the product he delivers.

Rating: Standard, good quality Roman style cafe
Bud Cafe 8 is located literally just around the corner from Castroni cafe. This might reflect stupid business sense on the owner’s part, or it might show that there’s room and demand for better coffee than what Castroni’s putting up. I think it’s definitely a case of the latter! The bar has a California, surfer-ish style about it, with the Q ball logo trying to say something of what you’ll find inside…
